Best Minecraft Performance Settings for a Higher FPS and No Lag
Note- This is a work in progress so any constructive feedback is welcomed and I will edit this guide as the feedback comes in! Note- This is a new player guide so I understand that many people have already heard about this optimization tips Have you ever been playing fighting a giant in MineZ, gunning down enemies while securing the cache on Wasted or attacking a Nexus in Annihilation and all of a sudden your FPS FPS is Frames Per Second drops tomaking it nigh on impossible to fight?
Let's start by debunking common FPS myths!
Myth - High FPS is good! Reality : I am not saying high FPS is bad, but rather high fps that is not stable is bad, because if you are at fps for a second but then drop to 40fps it feels like you are at fps Myth - I am lagging that means my FPS is low! Reality - If you are lagging, you would go chop down a tree, the animation happens but wood does not come from the tree, another example would be you are typing to someone and you press enter but nothing shows up, and no one elses chat is showing up for you.
Realit y- Having a bad computer would mean that after you do everything that I am about to tell you still have a low fps fps you either have a quite old computer or something in your computer is broken.
Now Launch your Minecraft! Fast disables those effects for better performance. Render distance: The maximum distance that your minecraft will load chunks, if you Render Distance is high your fps might drop. Smooth Lighting: Lighting is smoothed across the blocks ambient occlusionor each block has a distinctive light level.
Turning it off will increase performance. This should not apply to you if you do not use redstone. Performance : Max FPS- unlimited FPS no longer capped by minecraft but your computer's capabilities but, it will allow you to shoot up to fps then down to 45fps then up to fps which seems like you have a low fps if it fluctuates exponentially, so I have mine capped at 60fps while I could easily have fps it would fluctuate exponentially. Also, if you do not cap your fps say you have really good computer then any fps that is above your screen refresh rate say or is just wasted because your CPU feels like it is giving you fps but your screen can only display up to or fps depending on your screen refresh rate If you are only getting around 30 fps I would recommend that you set it to unlimited, but if you have a good PC then I would cap it at your screen refresh rate.
View Bobbing: Preference This does not interfere with fps and just moves your character so it's more realistic. Change the settings back and forth to see if turning it on or off makes a difference. Go to task manager then navigate to the processes tab to see processes that are eating up your CPU by clicking CPU which orders processes by CPU usage so If you plan on uninstalling a bunch of programs from your computer make sure you follow these guidelines: 1.
Make sure that if you share a computer with someone that they do not use that program! Note- I have noticed that you must do this every time you launch minecraft Note- there might be two javaw.
I have mine to auto-scan once a month and I can manually set it to scan if I need it to. This is what your minecraft options will look like after installing optifine Hovering over an option in optifine will explain what is does and how it increases your performance!

Feb 10, 0 5, Make sure you have the latest java update as well as optifine. Optifine increases your fps and it adds a couple more graphics setting which hopefully your pc should be able to run. Feb 19, 1, 0 12, I have never heard of having to allocate RAM to a game before.

Remember to install bit Java incase if you haven't already. Are other programs taking up any decent bit of your CPU? Is it when you're looking far out in the distance?
What graphics settings do you have? Last I recall, Java can't utilize ALL of your PC, though recently it apparently allowed use of a couple more cores, or something along those lines.

I remember the time where if my computer struggles to load minecraft, I'd go to task manager and "end process" a "low-disc usage javaw" program.
Not sure if it's still works though. The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic. Originally posted by Zimo :. Originally posted by Spooky! Cheeseburger4 View Profile View Posts. Tesityr View Profile View Posts.
If I may pop in, back when I had this issue with Minecraft and with a similar system I have an AMD FXit was due to overheating [and needing to dust out my system]. Try dusting out everything and double-checking all fans are working well.
Make sure everything is seated tightly and wires are 'mostly out of the way' for airflow. Just shooting out some ideas Last edited by Tesityr ; 26 Oct, pm. Per page: 15 30 Date Posted: 25 Oct, pm. Previous Next Sort by votes. Tabeeb Honorable. Apr 7, 90 0 10, 0. Ever since a couple of days ago, I've noticed that I'm not getting the frame rate I used to be getting. I noticed this after I tried and failed at allocating more RAM. I had MB before and when I tried some guy's method of allocating ram, my ram allocated went down to MB and I was getting fps only.
Okay, so I know this is a common problem, and I have read around and I can't seem to find anything that deals with my exact problem all other laptop users have problem with integrated intel graphics. I'm running on high performance, I've tried changing CPU affinity and ram priority.
Drivers up to date. I have set minecraft to run on the nNvidia graphics, Background programs all closed, etc This post is the same problem on almost the exact same hardware, but it's old and doesn't provide any useful solutions viewtopic. Sorry if this has been solved somewhere else but I was unable to find it! Initially I figured it may be running minecraft on the integrated graphics card, so I changed the settings so minecraft.
This didn't help, but I didn't think to add java itself to the list. Once I'd set java to run with the nVidia card it works perfectly. Select 'Manage 3D Settings' in the left pane 3. Select the "Program Settings" tab in the main window 4. Click 'Add' 5. Click 'Apply' in the bottom right and you're good to go.
Kinda silly really but I'm not used to specifying a graphics card to use so hopefully this will help other people with this problem! Rollback Post to Revision RollBack. I've had this same problem with my Asus U45JC. I never thought to add javaw.

Regardless of how it turns out, thanks! EDIT: I suppose clicking "apply" helps, derp. The game is a thousand times more enjoyable when it's all nice and smooth :biggrin. I have the K42jc and I tried changing the graphics to nvidia insteas of integrated and it doesn't help and I am sure I have clicked apply Please help I have the same specs with 8gb of ram, and I couldn't figure out why old computers were outperforming mine.
I cannot thank you enough. Ok so silly question, do some laptops only have Intel Intergrated or do they have that and something else.Frame rate also known as fps is the frequency rate at which a video device produces unique consecutive images called frames. Frames are still pictures that when sequence together form a fluid animation that is the basis for all moving media. Frame rate is most often expressed in frames per second fps. Low fps will result in a "choppy" gaming experience, as far as looking like a slideshow in extreme cases.
Difficult calculations like blowing up large amounts of TNT or spawning in a large number of mobs can temporarily decrease the fps to a complete stop. Note that your displayed fps might not be accurate, as the game has to render all of the information in the debug menu, so you may get an increase as soon as you close the display.
Most of the following suggestions are configurable in the game's Options menu, accessible by pressing Esc. Sign In. From Minecraft Wiki.
