There are airbags whereever you turn in this car I feel no pity to let them in my seat to rest. Well, since the fault is there they don't already work in the seat So is this like a warranty issue then, did VW charge anything for doing it?
Was it on your R32, or some other 4motion? For me, it is not the seat airbags that's the reason for the light at all. It is a bad connection somewhere else between the airbag unit and any airbag. Will go hunting Yes you are!
Resistors fix for airbag light. Fault explain it to be "driver seat airbag failure". Many threads about this, included the Vortex link. A specific R32 guide with pictures if anyone have would be great, otherwise consider this thread a guide if I get it to work! Edited by Slapbladder, 29 July - PM. They are all there for a reason bud Like This Unlike Sabaselfsit 29 Jul Well, since the fault is there they don't already work in the seat Like This Unlike Slapbladder 29 Jul Well, since the fault is there they don't already work in the seat Yep replace the airbag.
Like you said, my choice my ass. G-Werks told me the VW fix and i checked this with a friend who is a VW tech as well was to cut off the connectors and use those heat shrink type thru connectors instead. The problem is that this them leaves you with a permanent connection under your seat should you wish to remove the seats later say, but its another option.
HTH Alex. It was on my 4Motion My friend also had the same issue on his r32's drivers seat though. I'll try and grab a pic when i get time Edited by Alex, 02 August - PM.
Would be really great. So next step is like mentioned in the start of this thread; cut the connection to the driver seat airbag and try to make the ecu believe it's working by using a resistor.
He he, yes! Like This Unlike Sabaselfsit 11 Sep 4. I measured the resistance on the passenger seat airbag plug and got 2. Connected drivers seat with a 2. Trick airbag sensor when installing Sparco front seats. Hello I am working on my GT premium edition. The stock front seats are coming out and being replaced with Sparco Evo IIs. I am looking for a way to modify the wiring to avoid the whole airbag issue.
This car has the vented leather seats and there are two wiring connectors. Thank yoou. VoodooBoss Rick Moderator. Basically you need to wire in a 2 ohm resistor to the pigtail below the seat. I'm installing a set of Cobra Suzuka seats on Planted bases this week, this video on Youtube is the only thing I've been able to find. On my tech pack GT the 2 ohm resistor worked correctly, and when installing a set of Sparco seats I did not have to disable the climate settings. No trouble codes set.By kabz77March 8, in Ford Fiesta Club.
I bought some aftermarket seats to install into my Fiesta but I'm having issues with regards to the airbag plug thats housed underneath the factory seats. Once I disconnect the plug I know the airbag light will appear on the dash, I've been told that I need to purchase an airbag resistor that fits into the plug which turns off the airbag sensor. Sadly the air bag resistor kit that Recaro sell is a universal one so it wont fit into my plug, I was told that Ford should sell an 'end cap' that does the same thing but when I called them the parts team didn't have a clue what I was talking about.
Would anyone know what I need to do or where I can buy a kit that will fit straight onto my plug? I've attached pics for reference. I understand the airbag wires are yellow but I'm guessing the wires for the air bags and the seat belt tensioners have been stuck in the same plug, at one stage I was hoping my car didn't come with seat air bags but I noticed last night that I have an 'airbag' label stitched onto the side of both seats aaaaargh!
I have been told that not all the models in the Fiesta range have seat airbags so surely Ford have to have something available similar to an 'end cap' that I can fit. I know what to do, I'm gonna take the plug off and switch the car on, if no lights appear on the dash then that plug has to be for the seat belt Hmmm gonna have to do a little more investigation. Its a lot easier and less stress to just get the factory seats retrimmed. Its a shame but I haven't got the energy or strength to deal with possible issues with sensors and electrics.

Good Afternoon Dan, I understand the airbag wires are yellow but I'm guessing the wires for the air bags and the seat belt tensioners have been stuck in the same plug, at one stage I was hoping my car didn't come with seat air bags but I noticed last night that I have an 'airbag' label stitched onto the side of both seats aaaaargh!
Otherwise I'm gonna have to just remove the bulb for the airbag from the dash, not ideal I know. Posted March 10, Join the conversation You can post now and register later. If you removing OEM seats and replacing them with after market ones with no airbags you will need to fit a resistor to stop air bag lights coming on! This is how I've done it Feel free to ask me if you need anything Photoshopping.
Chop connector off and solder resistor between 2 wires then you dont need scotch connectors. Solder resistor to 2 bits of wire and splice it into original airbag connector wires as shown on diagram.
Hope i didn't confuse you too much. Nice guide Vlad. By the way, credit to Keyser for this guide as well - as he was on other side of tinternet confirming that I'm doing everything right when I was doing my build. Great guide thanks.
If yellow plugs have been cut out completely and you want to put them back on does it matter which way around they go?
The wires are identical, yellow with a dash of black every 10cm. Im guessing they aren't but don't want to blow my air bags getting them the wrong way round! I want the airbags for the protection, but im thinking of putting a resistor in until some-one in the know tells me about the airbag yellow wires.
I'm pretty sure the airbags with be directional. Maybe send Keyser a PM about it? I'd go have a look but 1: The cars not here ATM and 2: i've chopped the plugs off like yours and fitted a resistor. Just plugged the yellow wires in one way around and it worked. Disconnected battery and swapped the yellow wires over in the plug.
It still works.
I haven't tested that it deploys or anything like that! Just done mine chuffed! Great thread this I followed your guide and worked out, this is why I love forums. Soooo, when I removed my standard leathers to fit bucket seats - disconnected battery - my airbag light did not and has not come on at all?
I don't know what is standard and what in optional in the UK, but here in the US the side airbags were optional.
